You always wanted some beautiful photos from your family or your pet, but you are not really sure how to go about it? Do you decide on a studio, or are you more looking for a location shoot?

Picking the right background for your shoot is very important but can be overwhelming.

Let us begin with some aspects that could make the decision easier for you:

  • Do you have a specific location with lots of meaning for you?  The location you got engaged, your dog’s favourite beach, a park your grandfather used to take you as a kid,… Any of these places could be perfect for a photoshoot and give your photos an extra layer of meaning.
  • Are you planning on printing the photos and having them framed in your house? You might want to plan ahead and think of what colours would work best in your interior. Are you after green tints, then we should be looking at a park or forest, while beaches will give you a more brown, yellow tint.
  • Still not sure, do a google search of location shoots. even if the results you find are not in Auckland, it could give you an idea of what feel you prefer in your shoot. Feel free to show us these samples and we can find a location together that fits best.

And to make your decision a little easier, we have a list of some beautiful places where we like to shoot in Auckland. But don’t let this stop you from proposing your own preferred location to us. We like exploring new places!

Bethells Beach:

This west coast beach has it all. Forest green cliffs over hang a rugged coastline, black sand and large ruff waves gives it a “Jurassic Park” feel. This location makes for a typical dramatic west coast backdrop if you are going for that rustic type feel. It is very famous in Auckland for beautiful photoshoots, and one of our favourite places to shoot in both Winter as Summer.

Muriwai Beach

Although on the west coast this beach is a long stretched beach with an abundance of sand dunes and is great if you are looking for a pet beach scape (large dog area). But also the perfect place for family shoots in the beautiful dunes or near the cliffs of the Gannet Colony. With the large waves and grey sand in the background you are surely to get an amazing shoot.

Piha Beach

The third west coast beach on offer is Piha. One of NZ’s beach goers hot spots in summer. This beach has all the gems as the last two with the back sand, crashing waves and lions rock… who wouldn’t want a shoot here? Dogs are restricted to go between monkey and lions rock

Auckland Domain

This location has a lot to offer. From the green NZ bush to the more melodramatic feel of the Auckland War Memorial Museum. There are ponds and large trees with drooping branches. This location makes for a great family shoot backdrop if your looking for that green forest look. Dogs do have a restricted off leash area however are allowed all other areas if on leash.

Michael Joseph Savage Memorial Park

This Landmark between Kohimarama Beach and Parnell offers a mixture of scenery. The Large Obilisk has a rustic look, while the sunken pool and gardens provide a more nature feeling. The perfect location for a beautiful family shoot.
